Hello Copyright Comrades,

As many of you may already know Jessica will be leaving SAMP at the end of October to pursue some other opportunities.
Jessica has been with Copyright since before the GCA move from London and has worked in both US Copyright and GCA roles. Needles to say her knowledge, experience and general goodwill is going to be greatly missed around here.

Please join in wishing her farewell at some point over the next few weeks by possibly letting the air out of her tires, causing her to slip on a banana peel in the kitchen, habanero peppering or whatever way you see fit.

Sincerely, all joking aside, Jessica - you will be greatly missed by all.

a goal. for 2011, realistically.

quit my day job, have a part timer and sew for the rest. wake up early, sans alarm clock, and walk George to start the day. drink coffee, read and write and begin my day.
the day is full of challenging but rewarding work, and im sure 2 or 3 evenings I will end my day waiting tables...til I really get on my feet. this is my realistic goal, after all.
these days will be different. no day will require the same mundane existence, such as data entry in an office from 9 to 5:30 with an hour for lunch under florescent lights and cubicle neighbors with slightly annoying daily habits. some days won't be awesome, but most will be good and more than ok. i will enjoy life and become more patient since I will have my days to get things done and not have a 6pm to bedtime window or just the weekend to complete my necessary life tasks, squeezing in some fun here and there. my garden will flourish. i will cook more meals and take photos of them for my future food blog. i will get back into food. i won't be afraid to dive into the challenges that once scared me, getting my feet wet every step if the way.
a challenge will be to let things happen and not try to control what life is about to toss my way. live for the moment, not for tomorrow.

fabrics for flood relief

i'm sure most know by now of the terrible flood we've had here this past weekend in Nashville. lot's of folks were affected and it's going to be a long, slow recovery process.

a friend is selling fabric in her shop and all of the proceeds will go the the relief efforts.

occasionally my iTunes will throw out these genius little pairings when i throw it on shuffle. i can't recall them all, but the one that just now occured at work, causing me to document the moment was when it went from DJ Shadow's "Mutual Slump" to Pugh Rogefeldt's "Love, Love, Love"...which if you're not familiar, Mutual Slump samples Love Love Love.
2 totally different artists...one shared song. not noted on any iTunes info...

duffel

i have a healthy obsession with vintage, sturdy, worn canvas duffel bags, particularly the old L.L. Bean leather/canvas ones.

not on the leather...

i found a really awesome simple, old, soft, worn out leather coin pouch at the flea market this weekend and it reminded me that I had gotten a really old travel wardrobe carrier thingy made of old worn leather at the goodwill to use for it's supple leather. oh yeh, i said supple.
i thought I would experiment on my machine since I hadn't tried my had at leather yet...it wasn't so bad, but had it been any thicker, it might have caused problems.
here's the result. a simple little pouch. (will post the flea mkt find later)
i'm thinking hip pouches out of this will be nice.

packaging

i really love the packaging for forest milk, and i bet the milk is delicious out of that nice glass bottle. i wish we all had more access to things like forest milk, for multiple reasons.

here's what i found:
"The cows which produce this milk are free to roam an unused forest all year round. The milk is supposed to taste better, the theory being that happy cows produce better milk. We like the way the tree graphic reflects the typography as well as the simple yet charming addition of tissue paper covering the bottle cap. Nominated for a Japanese 2009 Good Design Award."
"The cows in forest farms are allowed to roam free, and are not given any imported feed. The milk is low-temperature pasteurized, and is said to have a slight green tint at times."

collection

i am obsessed with vintage refrigerator bins/drawers/crispers, etc.
ObSessed.
this is by far the most favorite of any collection i have going, and i have alot of collections.
i don't know what it is about these metal pieces of history that bring me that warm-hearted 'love' feeling, outside of their beauty and functionality, but I would go great lengths to make my collection grow.
*update*--i have a new one added to my collection, thanks to Carolyn & David and their keen flea market eyes.....introducing, The Humidrawer!

Shop Update

A lame attempt to try to lure in some sales....a few bags I already had made...and hopefully more to come soon. The current projects are more military-inspired, solids, rustic and unisex themed. The Holga shots are all from the past year or so. Mostly ones I aim to soon hang in my own house.
